| Stainless steel, cast iron, hard steel | Cobalt M35 / M42 | Keeps its edge under heat. HSS blunts fast on stainless. |
| Brick, block, mortar | Masonry bits | Only a carbide tip survives hammering into brick — an HSS bit just blunts. |
| Concrete, dense masonry | SDS Plus / SDS Max | The hammer does the work — far less effort than a combi. Plus for most jobs, Max for big holes; needs an SDS drill — check our compatibility chart. |
| Timber — clean, deep or large holes | Wood drill bits | Brad point, auger, Forstner or flat — locates on the mark, clean edges. |
